Tonic.

Fay Slimm.

Tonic.

No tonic compares to dawn's early rewarding blackbird-soprano

when spilling abroad.

Silence drips with explosion as trills bare feathered heart-shards

which pierce crystal air.

If only my pen could capture each rapturous
droplet of sound, alchemy bottled in clearest
melody that unstoppered pours liquid healing
on my festering senses, one dose of captured
spring-chorus should invoke poetic treatment.

Of all nature's symphonies this bird's throaty repertoire hastens

thrilled bards to rise early.

So with his tuneful soliloquies stirring my sleep I now gratefully rouse

and intend to drink deeply.

Hello and thank you F.B. for your visit and read of my idea of a first class spring-tonic - so pleased you love the sound too of a blackbird's melodic song.

Super write Fay, the blackbird song is wondrous but the first bird heard in the morning (and the last at night) is the robin, still a wonderful sound though.

          • Fay Slimm.

Yes the robin too gives voice to a wonderful song as do other feathered friends - my tribute to the blackbird was written after his glorious performance in early Spring - and agreed his solo is a glorious sound. Many thanks Andy for your welcome visit and comment.

You have captured here well the very essence of the magnificent turdus merula ...... to hear it is to fall in love with it and true....

            • Fay Slimm.

So grateful for your engaging comment on my words of Spring Tonic dear Nev. I love your resplendent designation of the thrush-like blackbird ( turdus merula) with a song that beats other birds with roll-change and range of note-use.. Agreed that to hear is to fall in love with its melodic bravura.Guess you like me are waiting already for his next Spring performance.............. Fay
