A Dreamer Of Many Things.

kevin browne

Every night I start to dream of you
And with every thought coming on
I dance through the shooting stars
As I play the fiddle and sing a song.

And now I'm a dreamer of many things
You'll never understand the stuff I write
Sometimes I think I'll become the King
Of writing poetry for those lonely nights.

And the dreams are filled with a delight
Making childhood memories come alive
Walking into places to help out Peterpan
Alice strolls through everything she can.

Memories are all I have to lose or keep
As every day I wake I'll wake up to weep
if ever you're around thinking of what is
Then come here in my heart for a kiss.

I've met Keats sat upon his 1808 hill
I fell in love with thoughts stood still
For in my dreams of Homers' cultures
Dante filled the air with poetic vultures.

So, I'll get the imagination to carry on
To remember to play that fiddling song
And if you disintegrate in all my dreams
We listen to what Shakespeare means.

And those dreams we had to lose or keep
I'll lay in bed dreaming when finally I sleep
Become me a master of learning my poetry
As I wait for a resemblance to my own reality.

But, I still can't leave my hearty pen alone
Turned over by the rock of a rolling stone
To be butchered by the maniacs of torment
I'll lay my ink to dry upon an angel I've sent.

And in my dreams, you are there to stay
And if you leave I'll try to block your way
And when these dreams of mine will end
I'll pack my bags of thoughts and pretend.

Yes, pretend that I'm real and I can dream
Of other places where the world has been
Around the Sun and beside a bright Moon
I'll lay to rest for now, but I'll be back soon.

One last chance of becoming a dreamer
To test the depth of love before I saw her
And if she's willing to live in my poetic head
We can take all our dreaming into our bed.

May those dreams become real and that love never fail.
