Have We Success

TyraWilliams

Calm like the storm that rages threw the dark ember night,

embraced with the whispers of caged souls and you ask me have we success.

A mind is a hollow place lingering for what more it can possess.

Education is key they say but not for us, not for me.

Chained to the pole, to be or not to be and yet they ask us have we success.

Do not fret my friend one day that will be us at the peek looking down screaming with all our might we are free at last, we are free.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem was created from a time when I felt like society was choosing my pathway of success. I refused to be silenced because of my age. Being an eighteen year old female with ambitions can be challenging because there doesn' t seem to be enough room for us to voice our words and to be heard equal to that of our counter part.
