Stunningly Clear Vistas

FredPeyer

today my mind behaves like

slow moving molasses

a viscous sweet brown mass

spreading indistinctly

through my body

sticking like cookie dough

to my imagination

today my soul flutters

like a drunk butterfly

in desperate search of beauty

getting lost in the colors

of a teardrop rainbow

emerging powerfully pristine

in a brilliant burst of light

today I am carried

on silver bat’s wings

from dark arrant despair

to breathtaking heights

illuminating my heart

stunningly clear vistas

of the untrodden path ahead

    Hallucinatory Fred?

    Dave

Thanks Dave, aren't we all? How else could we come up with all this 'stuff'?

Perhaps you could be right, Fred - after all I've been advised by another poet with much more seniority here to 'be very careful what you allow to be put in your rosehip syrup' - I'm half tempted to do an Oliver Twist and ask for more...

That untrodden path ahead is full of wonder, keep walking it.

Thanks Andy, yes it is, and I guess we don't have much choice but to keep on going.

I'm gonna climb a tree, then I will see all that you're seeing too, from that view up there. lol.

Thanks orchie, and once you are on top I know you will start to sing and scare away all the birds!

This superb piece of poetry has to be one of your best Fred and it goes straight into my list of faves - - great read.

Thank you so much Fay, you are much much too kind! Actually made me blush a bit. Or maybe that is just my sunburn?

Your day sounds like it starts like mine. I love the way the feeling of your poem turns from molasses to breath taking heights.

Mahalo Philip, isn't it amazing how fast our outlook on life can change sometimes.
