premonition

dusk arising

have i now lived this life long enough
to be tasting the bitter tears
of history repeating itself
as I reflect upon yesterdays wasted call
to let us all walk together hand in hand

long enough to know how jaded is the dream
there would ever be a promised land
as now i turn around to see
dead bodies cast about the streets
where is this exalted life of harmony

when words of wisdom that we speak
have soured to meaningless rhetoric
to give us comfort in our sleep
whilst evil slumbers too
and we turn yet another cheek

and so... where do we go from here
for again we shall fool ourselves
believing blessed utopia is ever near
and yes... I too will hide from the claws of evil
which still scratch at my face

                    as I seek to deny
                       my self destructive premonition
                            of this, our human race

It certainly seems that the human race is out to destroy itself d a, all it needs is for love to rule the world and peace will come to all.
Oh look! There is a pig flying in the air!!

Thank you Andy. Once again a politician has blood on his hands. How can humanity let one man's ego cause so much death, pain and destruction.

      so astute, dear Poet
      we do, indeed
      resemble, a society of
      despairing mind's, overwhelmed
      by chaotically decrepit, Times..
('where is this exalted life of harmony'..
      personally, I cherish
      that shard, of its promise
I twirl into my cup of tea
      and then utilise
      its afforded, semblance of solace
      as I sigh and exhale
      my worries, in every sip..
      as Plath, said best:
      'Tea leaves, thwart
      those who court catastrophe')
      we must stay strong, morosely
I'm sure theirs worse to come
      before we get our, momentary
      reprieve..

Thank you LBM for sharing your wisdom here. I hope we remain onlookers and don't become pawns in the current game. It's difficult to be creative and write poetry for me right now but this piece is a sincere cry from within.

What a wonderfully stated claim that the human race has not progressed far. We have recently had a technological revolution advancing us beyond our wildest dreams but there has never been a social revolution to put us equal to our technological achievements. May be some day if we survive long enough. I particularly loved your last stanza.

Thank you sorenbarrett... I have so many negative emotions brought on by the current conflict.

True are the words with no denial
          When humanity is at depletion
The war cries and the destruction of the true satan fills the street
It’s a tragedy but the poetry justifies the demonic era that is surfacing
          Very accurately presented dear dusk

With the marvels of our technology today the devil which is inside homosapiens is brought into our living rooms. It is a stark and horrifying reminder of what we are. Humiliating and shameful for every one of us who think we are civilised and cool. Thanks spiller, as I work through responding to comments on this piece i feel my spirit being drawn to despair.

            • spilleronsheet

Please don’t let your spirit drawn in grief…I know situations are stark and don’t know for how long but a rainbow shall shine soon…

I'm running out of things to say about this piece written in despair and disgust but from the heart. Thank you M.E.
