Because They Can

Accidental Poet

Wild horses graze

On the open land

Free to roam where they want

Or rest where they stand

Endless fields their home

Rivers and streams

One can only wonder

The visions of their dreams

Mares raising young foals

Stallions lead the herd

Manes flowing in the wind

Following natural instinct, they heard

Across the landscape

Free as the wind they ran

For no other reason

Just because they can

The idea of freedom is brought out so well through the lines
      Across the landscape

Free as the wind they ran

      For no other reason

      Just because they can

you just painted in words what is surely one of the finest images of Exmoor & its wild ponies that has probably yet been writ and only a spit from my own front door, facing away from the sea that is ... Neville

Thanks N, I always wonder what it would be like to communicate with horses and other animals.
