What if...

Purnima

What if...

What if this one time,

I allow myself to fail?

To enjoy this imperfect life of mine,

And walk through an undiscovered trail!

What if for the rest of my life

I move on with a new insight,

That on some days, being productive is just being alive

and that perfection is overrated, good enough is alright?

What if I forgave and praised myself?

For the times I couldn’t meet my unrealistic expectations

So this time she pressed pause and took time for herself,

And stopped rushing through life for their validation.

Just this once, I’d like to know how it feels to be free

And walk across the road not taken,

And just wait to know where the road takes me,

Even though I could be terribly mistaken!!!

My comment on the poem “What if…” by Purnima
      “What if this one time,
I allow myself to fail ?...”
To be precise, you are not allowing yourself to fail : you are willing to start a new path and to find out what it has for you. The search for perfection does wear us down, but it has good sides to it : it forces us to discover our hidden abilities.
““The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.”
