Future Me

I met this lady the other day

And i can swear she's all 

I've ever dreamt to be

Not just beautiful,she seemed happy 

She seemed like the person

Who's been blessed with perfection 

In everything one can do or be.

 

I saw her again today

This time, I went up to her- 'Hi' !

She looked at me and smiled

And i nearly got dazzled

By the sparkle in her eye.

 

We talked and talked, it felt like forever

Until I felt the rays of the setting sun

Light up her face in a golden glow

The sound of laughter fell from her lips

Like the cascading water from a waterfall

Looking at her, i couldn't help but ask

Looking at her, i couldn't help but wonder-

 

How are you so happy!

Did you achieve everything you wanted?

You seem to have no regrets

You must be really lucky!

 

She looked at me fondly and said-

Life is never easy, little one 

Neither for me,nor for anyone.

But it is meant to be lived.

In myself , I believed.

 

I held on!

I believed that,one day, it'll be okay

I gave my best. God did the rest.

There's no thing as ''luck'', my dear!

Our destiny lies in our own hands

And -

Success lies on the other side of fear.

 

Future is something we can change

All you need is to have the courage.

What matters is getting up after a fall,

Have hope, listen to your heart's call

 

To fail isn't the end of a story

It is merely a cliffhanger

Don't be afraid to start again, darling 

It is the beginning for, "FAIL' means-

First Attempt In Learning!

 

So, never you give in without a fight

You may lose the battle

but atleast you tried!

Have faith in yourself, 

Since no one else will

The doubts you have hidden within-

Believe me, they're the first things

 you need to kill.

 

As she got up to leave,

I lightly pulled on her sleeve

''You didn't tell me you're name"'

And just as she said ,

I gasped aloud, what a coincidence!

I'm called the same!

 

She smiled and said,her eyes mischievous-

Sweetheart, that is natural, that has to be

We're related after all, you see!

That's when I knew who she was.

 

This lady-

Who didn't let her demons get her

Who braved every storm she came across

Who had faith in herself,when no one did

Who took charge of her destiny....

Oh! How could I not recognise her?

Now I know that lady!

 

She is the person in the mirror

i always wished to see-

We have the same name because 

She's The Future Me.
