Everything's Changed

Hali

Do you hear death's footsteps
Walking fast past the door?
Do you hear the past melt
And drip down through the floor

To the ground and below,
To the grinding gears,
Where the tired eyes of God
Look upon it with fear?

As clouds loom closer,
The world is getting small.
Stars are drifting further,
Buildings growing tall.

Yet with a laughing friend -
A gentle touch exchanged:
Nothing is different,
But everything's changed.
