penance

Naeners

shivering, quivering, blubbering mess

unequivocally unimportant, unaware, and unimpressed

who cares about the world as it moves on around us

let’s forget, let’s forgo, the falsehoods that surround us

in the blood, in the veins, of those i’ve tried not to care for

in the carnage, in the massacre, beneath the surface, beneath the pores

no matter, no mind, no mention, no memory

experimental, existential, excitingly exemplary

i remember, i remain, i remind, i reflect

all the pain, all the sorrows, all i wish to reject

my own advice i don’t heed, my own words i begin

are cut short, cut off, yet cut deep into my skin
