Going To Galilee

Tune: Lux Eoi

('Alleluia, Alleluia! Hearts to heaven....')

Matthew 28 v.1-10

********

As the first day of the week dawned

Two Marys came, as they mourned

To see the tomb of Jesus, when

There was a great earthquake then

Angel of the Lord descended

Rolled back stone from door, rended

And there sat, appeared as lightning

Raiment white as snow, dazzling

And for fear of Him guards did shake

As dead men it did them make

To the women said the angel

Fear not, glad tidings I tell

I know that you do seek Jesus

Who was crucified for us

He is not here, He is risen

See place where He was laid then

And tell disciples, go quickly

He is risen from dead, see

And, behold, he goes before you

Into Galilee, 'tis true

There you shall see Him, I have told

You, take courage and be bold

They left tomb with fear and joy great

Ran, told disciples not late

And as they went, Jesus them met

Said, Greetings, they had not yet

Reached the disciples, but then they

Bowed and worshipped Him that day

He said as the angel said, Be

Not afraid, to Galilee

Go, tell disciples to there go

There they shall see me, shall know
