Click Track

AuburnScribbler

Take one, not ready,

feel the pace,

welcome to the human race,

those before you,

no rehearsal,

and no shield for reversal,

keep in mind,

the beat that plays,

for it’s the pulse for all your days.

Take two, just smile,

keep in tow,

for my meter knows where to go,

though feel free,

to add your spice,

sweeten stuff with your advice,

but remember my true click,

you stay with me, as you tick.

Take three, slow down,

your heart’s a bomb,

to play at your rate, all’s gone,

delight revels,

but body fails,

just look down at the scales,

pleasure pains, are not the grade,

so, make sure attention’s paid.

Take four, a breakdown,

chosen shift,

such dissonance, makes a rift,

but I know,

you want to try,

all the things before you die,

get those t-shirts, but beware,

a mortal needs to really care.

Take five, some cleansing,

you wipe down,

chorus in motion, the turnaround,

your chops shine,

along with me,

now you see our harmony,

as with such a good decision,

there will be no subdivision.

Take six, great job,

some self-love,

all those demons you did shove,

you’re on track,

to knowing you,

all past forms are for review,

cutting floor quakes, under stress,

but end product, is what’s best.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The parallels between life and a recording session, are quite close indeed. An entire block’s worth of session, acts like chapters in someone’s life, and in both cases, there are choices and indeed pulses, as in life, there’s a heartbeat, and in the studio, there’s a click track. So, with me playing to the click recently, and with this in mind, I thought I would write this poem, that depicts such a chapter of someone’s life, as a song, with of course, a few takes, that meander through tension to failure and then to sweet success. The banner picture is of course a time piece, of which, reminds us about the importance of the decisions we make, with the time that is given to us, (to loosely quote some Tolkien). I hope that you enjoy the poem/song, I hope that your pace is as natural as it can be, and as always, please do stay everyone.

I love the metaphor of music, click track the pulse of life, in perfect sync. You take us through ages and stages, a wonderfully inspired and oh so clever write my friend.

Thanks for the read and for ever so kindly favouriting one my poems again, it's very much appreciated Bella.

I'm glad that you liked the parallel that I've used, with the click track being a heartbeat, and your wonderful words are like fine production flourishes that add to this track.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.

      Good words Ben.

      Take seven, all is well
      A hit it has become
Top of the charts once more
A time to be thankful in life.

      Andy
