A Rose

SteveOgun

No shame, no blame for an illness that robs the mind and very soul of ones being.

There is only loss and loneliness until the memories walk side by side with you, and allow you to smile again.

I can only see the light of the very next day, and therein lies a future worth living for.

Life never had its chance to be kind to her.

My tears are for the lost, the lost moments we never shared.

My sadness is for the time, the time for what might have been. If only......

When the smatterings of thunder joined me in my dreams and with it the chills of rains, she was there.

Brightening my days like the sun's rays encourage the birds to sing, and the flowers to flaunt their beauty.

Forever mine, so I thought.

Now, beyond has called and she has left this world for another.

A journey unknown.

But I am feeling blessed that she came into my life. Shared her love with me, and washed away my pain.

Etched in my mind is the gift of life she left behind. No greater presence for me has meaning other than our children.

Through their eyes I will always see her, and therefore never walk alone.

This is absolutely stunning, grief can do many things to us, but to read this makes that grief almost human, just like the love i can feel within each line. A rose indeed she must have been and will always remain 🌹

Thank you for that. I lost my love through schizophrenia and eventually cancer. I really wanted to convey to my children that her mental illness was nobodies fault
