Communion Concerns

orchidee

Tune: Solothurn

('Now let us from this table rise')

1 Corinthians 10 v.14-17

*******

Let us approach whole-heartedly

Unto Communion table, see

Any false gods shall counted be

As idolatry, them now flee

The cup of blessing which we bless

Wine, symbol of Christ's blood, no less

It is fellowship, communion

In Christ we united in one

And the bread here of which we break

Symbol of Christ's body partake

It too a sharing, communion

Of holiness in Christ, God's Son

For we being many are one

Body, Christ's atoning work done

For we all partake of one bread

By Christ we spiritually fed

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. There's a warning that if we don't approach this properly, we can become weak or sickly, or even 'sleep'. This ominously means 'die'. Not that every kind of sickness or ailment is attributable to this lack of preparation.

      Thanks N.
Whether spiritually or not, there's the saying 'To fail to prepare is to prepare to fail'.

Good one Orchi but apart from the bible where else in history is Jesus mentioned?

Thanks Gold. Maybe some historical writers mention Him too? I've not looked into it much.
