Echoes of the soul

Kaelyn Jade

In the depths where shadows dwell,

In the silent space where sorrows swell,

There lies a soul, heavy and tired,

In the grip of darkness, uninspired.

A weight that anchors, deep and cold,

A storm within that never grows old,

Invisible chains, bound and tight,

A constant battle, day and night.

The world outside, a distant land,

As loneliness like shifting sand,

Engulfs the heart in endless gloom,

Where even light struggles to loom.

A heavy cloak of numb despair,

Engulfs the spirit, unaware,

Of the beauty that once did shine,

Now veiled behind a shadowed shrine.

Yet in the depths, a flicker faint,

A tiny spark, a whispered saint,

A voice that whispers, "You are not alone,"

A glimmer of hope in the unknown.

For even in the darkest hour,

There lies within a hidden power,

To rise above, to break the chains,

And find the light in the darkest lanes.

So let the tears fall, let them flow,

For healing starts when we let go,

And in the embrace of vulnerability,

We find the path to serenity.

Though depression's grip may seem unyielding,

Within your soul, a strength concealing,

For every struggle, every tear shed,

Brings you closer to the light ahead.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is based off of depression. I know a lot of people expecially now-a-days deal with anxiety and depression. I do deal with anxiety and I do have some really scary thoughts, but I know that many people do have it worse and do try to carry out those thoughts. So if any one who reads this deals with anything like this please remember that you are NOT alone and you WILL do something great with your life.
