Music

Accidental Poet

Rare is the ear

Not perked up to

The sound of music

For music appeals to

Ears of diverse genres

To various select breeds

And still, there are those

Who listen to music

Only as background noise

They don’t hear the rhythm

Don’t follow the beat

How the notes work together

The story that unfolds

They hear the song

But don’t listen

How the lyrics seduce the ears

As the Pied Piper calls

And pulls you along

In a trance of enticement

Like being carried aloft

On an unseen cloud

Following the melody of notes

Listening closer, and closer

Searching for the source

The essence of what makes you

Who you are
