Nightwalk

Nightwalk
-by MVB

It’s night and calm outside and sky is clear
The silent breeze seems tired and resigned
I walk the creaky wood of lonely pier
With thoughts of life’s big questions on my mind.

I leave behind the lights of Christmas trees
Who sparkle dimly in the window panes
The song of frogs in distance like a tease
Alert me of the soon incoming rains.

Debilitating calmness all around me
Envelops me in deep tranquility
It’s peaceful, mild and placid, and I wonder
At times like this you ever think of me?

There are so many thoughts that roam my mind
A distant future that I struggle to define
The question haunts me, I can’t leave behind
At times like this, you ever will be mine?

You think that holding hands we could discover
The calmness of the starry night around
And smell the ocean breeze my precious lover
In everlasting love forever to be drowned?

You drew the scene so very well that I was there, from the first stanza, half-loving the lonely stroll, trudging unseen meditatively longing....hearing and feeling it all. You expressed it so perfectly, that if it is only imaginary....congratulations! You made it so very real. I much enjoyed it....I love it so well, I hate to think it only a moment in my imagination.
