The Kitchen Sink

WordCharmer

I often think what life was like,
Back when when things were black and white.
Life was hard, life was real,
Now we pretend like we can feel.

Take me back to the good old days,
Must have been born in the wrong age.
Try in vain to change this place,
The world moves on at record pace.

Save your blood, forget the sweat,
The government will wipe your tears.
Feeling down? Don't you fret,
Millennial Jesus will soothe your ears.

Tweet, tweet, tweet says the bird!
The keyboard is your safe haven,
Social media, that's the word!
Or is it just more isolation?

Facebook, snap chat, Instagram, Skype.
The list stretches wide and far.
Tell me, how is your handheld life?
Might as well be an avatar.

By the way, who stirred the pot of blacks and whites?
Please tell me this is all for show
We're the states, but you call this United?
The civil rights movement was over 50 years ago.

Narcissist, socialist, and criminal,
Is this really who we are?
Oh you modern intellectual,
Have you really come so far?

Please, don't misinterpret me,
For there's no need to scrap it all.
We've learned a thing or two or three,
Just try to remember the true call.

Life is crazy, full of strife.
But take a minute just to think,
What's the purpose of this life?
'Cause the world will throw the kitchen sink.

Love your neighbor as yourself.
Forget the fame, it's overpriced.
Be legit, remove the veil,
And share with others Jesus Christ.
