TO A HORSE - Written in Burns Stanza

BRIAN & ANGELA

HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY DRUM HORSE - BEAUTIFUL !

Oor Horses are a Man's best friend

Wi'oot them we'd gae roond the bend

Farm Horses to War Horses blend

Some bred fer racin'

Show Horses - Circus - wi'oot end

Hunt Horses chasin'

Each day ma Lady loves to ride

Feel the power beneath her thighs

Jumpin' fences wi' such pride

Each one a hurdle

Hard hat an' jodphurs - see her glide

Tight in her girdle !

Jumpin' sleek me an' ma Horse

Gallopin' thundrin' roond the course

Ma Black Beauty - tour de force

A reet guid runner

Rest o' the field in sad remorse

Och - worthy winner !

Horses come i' divers breeds

Arabs - shire - pal'mino steeds

Scots Hosses prance tay Pipers reeds

Please tak yer pick

Each breed o' Hoss fer special needs

Smooth cool an' slick.

Would I exchange my MUSTANG* fer a Horse ?

Why - definitely - YES of course.

  • Comment from author about the poem: BURNS STANZA rhyme pattern is a a a b a b etc. Line 123 & 5 have 8 syllables and lines 4 & 6 have 5 syllables. This makes Burns Poems very rhythmic to recite. I have used some AULD SCOTS spellings for pronounciation (OOR = OUR GAE = GO MA = MY etc) I have not used any specific AULD SCOTS words like PRATTLE = SMALL SPADE in To a Mouse. It's goof fun to try to write a poem in Burn's Stanza. Please comment - BRIAN
