A Love Prevented From Service

Justin010

Here I am stuck at NTC
staring up at our galaxy
Only what do I see?

The only equivalent to your beauty
For in mind body and soul you are unity
A blessing of the highest decree

From the heavens above
I wish for our love
So for every passing star
I wish with my heart

That you may look at me
Not as me but as we
Why can't you see?

Only fate where not so kind
It has put me in quite a bind
I cannot ask for your affection
Like some kind of election
I simply smile and wait
For that very first date.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Little about me when I wrote this. I am in the U.S. Army and was sitting in the middle of the Mojave dessert during a training exercise. ( National Training Center ) When on guard duty in the middle of the night I caught myself looking at the stars and thinking of my best friend Savannah back home.

WELCOME JUSTIN - Great first poem full of longing as all love poems should be ! Love the structure rhyming coupleets and triplets give it great flow. Love the content lamenting you separation from Savannah (lovely name). As a Man I can empathise - separation really does make the heart grow fonder ! Thanks for sharing - BRIAN
