APATHEIA

lysistrata

Drifting through the border of ideas

In search of a hook

To help me catch Apatheia.

Hunters and prey are in a distance

But persistent shadows are getting near.

Oppression is a condition that offers me happiness

It's better to be a victim now,but feel free later

Go on,drag me to the edge of Culmination

One step, two steps, three steps towards Evaporation

Towards Apatheia.....

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem in response to this painting. Apatheia (Greek: ἀπάθεια; from a- "without" and pathos "suffering" or "passion") in Stoic philosophy refers to a state of mind where one is not disturbed by the passions.

Thanks LYSI for sharing a very elegant poem in (structure & substance) on a paradoxical subject. Persecution and oppression bring relief through the freedom that follows. Just as the glory (and the medals) the Olympic Athlete receives negate the pain and sacrifice of training. Per ardua ad astra. Love the painting and the poem. Yours BRIAN
