The race

Poems_

Depression chasing me again
And she's almost caught up, she's 1st place
I can feel her essence
Choking me half to death
Trying to slow me down
So I can be in her grasp
And she can engulf me in sorrow

Happiness is dead last
Maybe I don't deserve him
Maybe Depression
Who is breathing down my neck
Has scared him away
Happiness is too little for him to fight
He's too weak to shake depression off my back

Anger is catching up
He's 2nd place, right behind depression
He's stealing depression's essence
And converting the misery to fury
The fiery fury he needs to win the race
To fill my life with negative thoughts
Guess it's a lose lose situation for me

Love is 3rd. I don't think she'll catch up
Every fiery outburst from anger
Weakens her painfully
She has no power source
There's no love in my life to boost her up
Not even loneliness is my friend
It snickers and giggles at the sight of me

Wow! Great write! I loved how it is set in a race and the usage of first, second and third place.
