The Boy and the Horse

niallprideaux

The man in the black room sat alone,

the door locked to keep out the pain.

A boy on a horse came galloping

through the wall in white smoke.

They trotted around, a child's pure laughter

radiating through light neighs, and an

invisible wind appeared to flow through

the boy's hair.

They stopped in front of the man, both staring

intently, as if they were listening to his silence.

The man tilted his head forward as tears fell.

The boy climbed down from his stallion,

his light clothing flapping gently as he walked.

He reached out and took the man's hand in his,

and they disappeared.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Image and song aren't mine - play video from 7:17 as I could not find a snippet of that part of the song so I found it, as I think it fits perfectly with what I've written. Image and music are licensed by the producers and director of The Lord of the Rings film franchise.
