A Rag to Retire

vivi

So fucking damaged,
Like an old worn out rag,
Moldy and wet from tears-
Falling onto it all these years,
Stains all over it, dirty with mud, ash, and coals,
Branded from crushing footprints of heavy metal soles-
That walked all over it,
The rag has been used, washed and abused-
And washed again,
On a repeat cycle.
With endless work the stains have faded but the traces are clear,
With each sewn patch, there's another tear-
discovered,
An endless amount of work it requires,
But for an old used rag, is all this work worth it-or for the sake of the rag and its ppl around would it be better if it retires..?
