PASSING THROUGH

Louis Gibbs

There is something

That I must tell you:

I appreciate your kind reception

And will remember you always

For all that you've taught me.

However

Do not expect

Me to stay, or

Linger for long.

I'm but an observer

Just passing through,

Pausing along the way.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I've never settled in one place for long ... too much to explore, experience, observe, and learn on life's long, winding path. I don't plan on a change anytime soon, however.

Got to be one of your very best Louis. I rarely save work but this one is definitely going into my favourites,

We all have our travels to continue and we all have pauses but some of those pauses become part of our lives. Good write and I do hope that your pause here will be for a long time Louis.

I plan to at this point ... but we really never know the next step in the journey, do we? Thanks, 'O'.

You know Louis, that last stanza, which is great by the way, could even refer to our whole lives on this earth. I really like this poem, it made me think!

          • Louis Gibbs

Any poem that makes us think has served a purpose ... is not a wasted effort. Thanks for giving value to my effort, Fred!

Very thoughtful I never go far but I wander constantly from idea to idea , art to music to poetry

So you, too, have the curse of the wandering mind. Congratulations, and my sympathy, WL! Thanks for the compliment.

Louis, this is really living in the now. A free soul can not be attached. It is like love. True love, just love and never think how long it is going to be because life and love just moves freely and is eternity. You have a beautiful soul.

              • Louis Gibbs

Now you went and made me tear-up, Malu. It takes a beautiful soul to know one, my friend. Thank you so much for your appreciation of my poem, and for your comments. Stay on the path ... we'll meet at the end!

                • malubotelho

What if there is no end?

                  • Louis Gibbs

There may well not be, so we can just walk a while together now and then and exchange insights.

                    • malubotelho

I like that. Two souls aligned meeting here and there. I bet it is happening already. Now with the internet one can meet old souls buddies all the time.

We're all just passing through Louis, however, the way you put the words make it seem like a magical, mystery ride and, I enjoyed reading this SO much! Thanks for sharing Louis!

                            • Louis Gibbs

"magical, mystery ride", I like that interpretation! I suppose it could be considered that, Edward. Thanks so much for your comment.

                              True enough Louis.

                              Nice work.
