Time Stands Still

poetboy123

Remember the pleasant days of the calm before the storm

Where hearts were red, sky blue, before normality lost form

Now the hearts are black, sky even darker, life loses shape

With the moon rising, no heroes donned with cloak and cape

Trying to run past the past, its shadow sneaking ever closer

Darkness descends, devouring the depths, memories a blur

Picture frame shattered, families torn, every rose begins to burn

Screams echo out, dreams and nightmares unable to be discerned

Claimed beneath the eternal night, chaos is the new world order

Hope just a fading memory, skirting past the horizon, entering slumber

Birds lost their wings, lions have forgotten their roar, the stars begin to fade away

Silence settles upon the barren land, waiting to be broken one day

So real I felt like I'd been teleported into a not so distant future. A scary state of world we face pb. If world leaders could read this, I wonder how they'd react. Great writing. ; )

Strong write and could be so true. We were all worried that this may have happened back in the 1960s but it never did then and I pray that it does not happen now.
