A very long time ago
A young boy was I
Unsure of the road
There before my eyes
A road to the future
An unknown dance with time
But tread lightly boy
Take to heart every road sign
And some of those signs
May lead down a wrong turn
Read between the lines
Be careful of bridges you burn
For on some roads
You can’t turn back
No second chances
Because of knowledge you lack
As time waits for no one
Don’t miss the starting bell
Or your place in the future
Some opportunist will sell
Wishful thinking now
Advice from my future self
To know then what I know now
Confidence, my missing wealth
Why I couldn’t see
What everyone else saw
The road to the future
Is an internal law
