My right-hand intoxicant

an.g.v

I took a shot of you.
I poured my heart out to you.
You had me feeling tipsy.
Then I was going crazy
My right-hand intoxicant.
Cheers to you.
I drank you away.
You knocked me out.
I felt you in the morning.
And then came the headaches.
Without you life is shitty.
With you, life wasn’t heavy.
You make me weak, but you make me happy.
I’m addicted to you cause I’m unhappy

  • Comment from author about the poem: I just want to say this poem is for the ones that like to drink their pain away. I'm not one who seeks happiness or numbness with drugs and alcohol but I know a lot of people that do and that is what influenced me to write this one

  • BRIAN & ANGELA

GOOD ADVICE FRIEND ~ Alcohol is like many things in life (pornography ~ gambling ~ lying ~ immorality etc) Flirt with them and you quickly get addicted ! I was brought up in a Teetotal Home & my parents never needed alcohol to give them "Dutch Courage" so neither do I ! I've just finished CHRISTMAS LUNCH and I had one small glass of RED WINE (honest) and there was plenty on offer. I am able to drive (if there is an emergency) and I acted with decorum. When everyone else is getting drunk and I remain sober ~ People say I am a PRUDE ~ BUT ~ I call it being sensible ~ Thanks for caring BRIAN. Happy Christmas ~ please check my poems ~ Thanks B.
