Tune: Malvern

Peter has four names!
1. Simeon = wavering
2. Simeon = Hebrew of Simon
3. Peter = rock
4. Cephas = Aramaic for rock

'Twas by the Sea of Galilee
Simon and Andrew Christ did see
Casting a net into the sea
Called them fishers of men to be
When Jesus spoke of suffering
Retort, rebuke, Peter did bring
Saying, "Not so Lord, this shall not
Happen, suffering not your lot"
Yet he had said, "You are the Christ"
To Jesus, and this it sufficed
But wanting not his Lord to go
Way of the cross, nor of it know
But behind these words, Satan tempts
To avoid the cross, have relents
Not give up life for salvation
Of all people of each nation
Lord, give us grace, this we do pray
To take up here our cross daily
To go your way, give strength, that we
Follow you, your servant-life see

Peter remained strong even though he denied Christ three times.
Thanks Gold. I heard one sermon of Jesus' reinstating Peter, cancelling out his denials, by asking him three times if he loved Him. Peter replied 'Yes' each time. Another more complicated sermon said it was not about reinstating, but I didn't understand that sermon!
Your mastery with these writings continues Orchi.
Thanks Michael. I use some study notes too.
Delightful, beautiful and spiritually uplifting.
Thanks Orchidee.

Well done! You make me a proud Peter (the name I chose for my Catholic confirmation). And proud to be serving His kingdom alongside such a dutiful disciple.
Thanks Gary / Peter! Yes, he had his ups and downs, then went on to be one of the main leaders of the early church.
