To My Love, From Mars

A. F. Naturaliy

A tender and slow kiss upon the stars.

My love dances with elegance and charm.

Under my care, she shall never be harmed.

If I’m not known, I’m the planet Mars.

Although distant, the moon is alluring.

She twirls around one who does not love her.

If she spun for me, our love would prosper.

Though I’m red and bleak, she is assuring.

Earth is a cruel lover, full of much hate.

She pulls her prey in, intending to bite.

She is unforgiving in her set ways.

The moon is very sweet, she is my mate.

She sings beautifully— it lights the night.

My dearest love, you set my heart ablaze.
