A Time

Jamminblu

At night I lay awake

I dream of castles

wondering the woods

and my soul aches

Is there no chivalry left?

no quests left of the heart

no more gods to pray to

a magical meadow now torn apart

I am drawn to it more and more

I see a magical door

I peer through this portal of light

I see peace, a time of innocence

I open my heart and it takes flight

The soft grass at my bare feet

the smell of honeysuckle so sweet

the song of the raven at my heels

the future in an hour glass revealed

its beauty captures my wholly

its destiny beckons me

it's the sound of metal clashing

it’s the fire wanting to be free

I fight on a battlefield pitted and scored

my armor thin, rusted, and torn

I wait for the time Lord

when I feel the burn of deaths sword

Then let my soul dance in the wind

let the flicker of my candle go out

let me finally rest

only to walk the world forever and then

another night is at its end
