I know I have said it before .. but you have such a keen eye Phil .. for a few moments back then, I felt like I was sitting in a petri dish and being watched from above ... an amazing journey of self discovery ..

A wonderful use of metaphor Phil - - your third stanza captures the feel of relationship breakup so well and the end brings hope with its positive note - - this has to be one of your best and a real favourite for me.

Good words Phil but we know that it will not last and the seasons will show us different aspects of our lives.

An unforgettably rhythmic lament Phil with heartfelt learning curves meant for lovers world over - - yet I confess that sad though it was it somehow got me tapping my feet to its beat - - impressive penning.

dear Poet, may I recommend
you look-up
the working schedule of that great Tennyson
the one his wife managed for him
or maybe
take a look at that elevated desk and vista, setup
that great Dickens\' had
in his office of wonders..
see
because, we
tinkerers of syllables and ink
are so far and few
to find fame and fortune, the world
makes us believe
what we do, is effortless and easy
when
they themselves couldn\'t manage
to pen, a line of poetic sincerity
and so
jealously or merely hatefully
all artistry, is belittled
as a whole
with only the minuscule few celebrated
and all the effort we go through
to write these works of ours
are made to feel like, whimsical traits
when in actuality
each and every one
of our so called eccentric traits
like
finding a quite place, to call upon
our muses and inspirations
are
the essential tools of our craft!
(kinda like
an olympic athlete and that lucky sock...)
lol

I too normally write alone but can write with others around. Writing is such an individual way of being in our lives Phil.

Nothing twisted about doing a Greta Garbo - I have a solid double locked front door to the cupboard wherein I reside....I emerge when I\'m ready...
Good fun, Phil.

Fay Slimm. said:

Oh what a sigh of a read Phil - you penned the very hurts that come when a partner walks out and leaves such sadness and sorrow - - full marks for the lump that will remain in many a heart (including mine too ) after reading this lament on The Last Romance.

The agony of it all, Phil.....
I like to keep myself to myself....so now I\'m just wondering....could that bloke next door be a guy from Tennessee???
Underlying the humour, you make a serious point - It drives me quietly nuts when I hear some commentator extol the virtues of colonising Mars....
Matters arising:
Are we all going?
Having stuffed up this planet....

This was no simple journey you took this reader on MF27 ..

This was quite simply stunning .. indeed, the very best sir ..

A journey full of longing, of searching or rather exploring and of choices, love, lust and passion ..

The old fella\'s still got it I see .. and I sincerely hope that others shall too ....... Bravo Phil .... Neville.

Just a Dream
Doggerel Dave said:

Dream on, Phil – someone has to…..and indeed there remains a residue…no, that’s unfair. Much honesty good will and altruism do exist in the world but seem outweighed by the power and corruption you cite. I suppose individuals can only try to change those elements within their reach locally.
I’d be lying, however, if I tried to claim I had a more optimistic view of the world that the picture you paint.
Good write. Thanks.
