that same Sun warming those sands
is gracing your steps in life
you/we merely have to remind ourselves
to look up and remember
to realise, we too are afforded
some sunshine mercy
in our lives..

My comments on the poem \"Choir of the soul” by Danastanic

In her note on the poem, the poetess says : “I really would like to read someone\'s interpretation of this recent poem I\'ve wrote. It would mean a lot.”

“They come out of my mind…” It is ideas or feelings that come out of the mind. They go out in search of something. Indeed, we cannot prevent our thoughts from going out. We have no control over them. Here, the ideas or feelings are compared with strong waves. Thus, their power is indicated further : “strong waves.” We will note that waves have enough strength to sink and smash the strongest of steel ships and, with time, water disappears the wreck that sits at the sea floor. Yet, when you pass a finger through the same water, the latter gives way… The water gives way, but still has unspeakable strength… Thus, the apparent weakness of the water is an illusion.

The feelings are seeking the warmness of the sand. Why is that so ? It symbolizes the solitude or sadness of the poet, who feels left out in the cold. The feelings seek warmth and hope to find it in the sand. “…but then tiny rocky wounds make their appearance at the coast…” Unfortunately or sadly, obstacles suddenly arise in the path of the waves, at the beach. The obstacles are in the shape of rocks. We will observe that, though rocks have enough strength to smash ships, with time sea water and waves chip away at the rocks and carve them in any way they like.

“wandering through the halls of my soul looking for the light that survives” The obstacles arising from the shore make their way right up to the poetess’ mind / heart and look out for the remaining strength or hope left. Why do they do that ? Possibly to strike more at the poetess.

Thus, this is a sad song about the feelings and hopes of the poetess. There are obstacles standing in her way, preventing her from getting the success or peace she is seeking. In four lines the poetess has said a lot… By its very nature, poetry is something condensed. It needs to be paraphrased, expanded, so that the audience can understand better.
