Muchas gracias Jarcher por comentar mi poema y así es a veces uno llega a extrañarse y más penoso no reconocerse. Tu abuelo de Chile? Yo ahora resido en Chile. Es un gusto aportar con mi español :-) . Saludos!

I have often said I miss myself after a period of intense work or family business that keeps me from being me and having time to reflect, garden, read poetry, bicycle randomly through the hills, or do watercolors. I am not sure I have ever \"thought\" it in Spanish! Gracias for that important contribution!
PS I grew up in rural Texas with many Spanish-speaking friends. We all learn un poco de Espanol here, and my amigos taught me all the necessary curse words. I read a number of languages, some well, some poorly. My Spanish is mostly self-taught but the variety of Spanish literature is so intoxicating I always wish I was faster reading it. Borges, Ocampo, Paz, Jimenez, Mistral, Unamuno... all so necessary, never corny or disappointing. When I have time, I work through a Capitulo of Don Quixote in the original Spanish, which my grandfather Ernesto Ravinet from Chile encouraged me to do. If I live long enough, I\'ll finish it! He left me his richly illustrated Spanish text, along with his dog-eared Putnam translation when he died. !Hasta!

Tenemos que hablar

Muchas gracias. This is a lovely but painful self-conversation that you record so candidly. It is a tender serenade to yourself, so musical, so intensely natural. Your unrequited love for yourself is so moving, I tear up reading this. Sincere yet artful, Life, we have to talk. I cannot get that felicitous, haunting phrase out of my head.
