My comments on the poem \"Destination unknown” by Birdgirl
A trip to the unknown. You have to go on that trip empty-handed : “I\'m told you\'re not allowed to bring anything of material with you…”
It is a one-way ticket : “An ultimate sacrifice there\'s no coming back from…”

A Letter From A Forgotten Instrument

My comments on the poem \"A letter from a forgotten instrument” by Birdgirl
Usually, it is the musician who is the composer. Here, the poem says that the instrument is the composer and the poet is the notes that come out of the instrument.
“You tug on my heart strings…” After the strings of the instrument, it is about the heart’s strings. Typical poetic expressions. The music coming from the heart is “sorrowful” :
“Our sweetest songs are those of the saddest thought.”
--Percy B. Shelley (1792-1822)
« The most beautiful notes played on my heart” : the instrument composes music on your heart.

Death of the Caterpillar

My comments on the poem \"Death of a caterpillar” by Birdgirl
You waited for the butterfly to be born, but that never happened. Some will make it, some won’t. It’s one of the terrible laws of nature. However, you showed your love of nature by tending kindly even to the remains of the unborn caterpillar. Even when born successfully, the life of the butterfly only lasts for a few days. In that short time, it puts on a spectacular display of its wings and beauty . It works till the end and tries to make a home and to reproduce itself. A butterfly is a good symbol of fragile life. The Sealed Vault Door

My comments on the poem \"The sealed vault door” by Birdgirl
There are symbolic words in this poem. You have walked many times towards that door, but you can’t cross it or open it : “I have been to the door so many times before…”
You can touch the door but can’t open it. You have fears of the unknown : “they will swallow me whole and may not let me back out…”
To preserve our sanity, we have to stay withing a world that we can manage somehow.
About mysterious doors, see the following about a sealed temple door in India :

HCM

My comments on the poem \"HCM” by Birdgirl
“I have watched it [humanity] tear itself apart in the name of religion” :
It is indeed strange that while religion preaches friendship and love, people fight over it.
“While a small doe quietly cruches through the blanketed snow” :
This is a beautiful, touching and impressive image that typically arises in a poet’s mind : the doe represents innocence, just as the fresh, while snow. The doe moving about in the new snow gives a view of all-round innocence. There is both “purity” and “complexity” (your words in the poem) in the image. Soman Ragavan. 27 January, 2024.
