Thank you. Sometimes feelings for someone we care about run much deeper than we imagined and take us by surprise. (As Arthur Schopenhauer wrote, it is often the absence of something that makes its true value clear.) The ache I felt for not being able to reach a dear friend became something else as I contemplated the future passing of my soulmate. In what I perceived to be the ambiguous loss of a friend who was in the beginning stages of memory loss, I wrote this and soon thereafter, my friend reemerged. Yes, we never truly know... Coming to terms with loss as well as more deeply appreciating the ephemeral nature of life and each moment with loved ones.

We never know what we have until we loose it. Nicely written this poem speaks of this to me.
