A most interesting read if one is in need of self examination. The first half of the book is devoted to self analysis and leans toward the Freudian method. This part of the book deals with self hate and was most difficult for me to read. The last half concerns the importance of compassion for oneself. I read this book decades ago but it made such a lasting impression on me that I have never forgotten it.
