As Soraya says in chapter twelve "sad stories make good books." This book gives us a good insight into Afghanistan life before the Taliban from the perspective of a young boy, Amir, who witness the rape of his friend, Hassan. It is ultimately a story of redemption and how one moment can change your entire life.
Hosseini has written this wonderfully, with simple language for young Amir and complex language for adult Amir. He begins the book in the middle of the story, which draws you in and keeps you wondering what happened and what is going to happen.

The Kite Runner is one of the best books I have ever read. It is daunting and scary, but emotional and teaches a lesson at the same time.
