"The underground roads
Are, as the dead prefer them,
Always tortuous."

"When he looked the cave in the eye,
Hercules
Had a moment of doubt."

Leaning out over
The dreadful precipice,
One contemptuous tree."

The pieces presented here definitely ignite a sense of introspection. Each of them feels like harboring a distinct adventure, illuminated by cryptic philosophical undertones. There's an intriguing depth to the illustrations of doubt, mortality and defiance. I also appreciate the minimalistic yet powerful imagery the stanzas incite, these alluding broadly to the human condition & perseverance. It's my first time reading such compact yet profound poetic literature. Leaves one with much to mull over. Highly recommend for those seeking an intellectually stimulating read.
