Metronome

An Abstract View of Life

*tick*

The room is dark around me. The muted tv flickers the only real light into the room while my clock becomes a metronome.

*Tick*

Its not a sad scene. Im just waiting for a text. One that will set me into night.

*Tick*

My brain starts to explore my thoughts. Images flash through and smile begins to form.

*Tick*

I thought about the time we went fishing and I lost my rod only to catch it on yours fish still attached.

*Tick*

The look on your face when I told you that I loved you.

*Tick*

I thought about everything I had to do. Get a new job, move to a new city, be who you need me to be.

*Tick*

I thought about our future. How our wedding would be. How many kids we'd have. How ready I am to spend the rest of my life with you.

*Tick*

I thought about that night. When you told me you didn't love me. When all my ideas shattered

*Tick*

When I broke down in the shower after. Feeling lost as if getting reset back to square one.

*Tick*

I gave everything I had to you, but it never turns out like the movies

*Tick*

I loved you with everything I had

*Tick*

I still do

*buzz*

My phone lights up and snaps me from my thoughts. I read the name and smile

*Tick*

It isn't you, but I think that's the point
