Our Pets
Our animals share a history
As our dearest pets
Sharing our home as they live
With toys we often get
Our cat doesn’t hunt
But lounges ‘round the house
With everything that he needs
From toy bird to plastic mouse
He also has a scratching post
And uses it some each day
With his claws sharp and strong
To scratch us as we play
Our dog is an inside pet
And really is quite spoiled
With chew toys of all sorts
That he readily destroys
Our dog does not mind our cat
And they share plenty space
The cat sleeps and purrs
And we pet the dog all day
There is a parakeet
That sings all the time
And sees himself in a mirror
As an enemy sometimes
Our friends really like our pets
And say that they are fine
And they want animals too
As family in their lives
