My '72 Cheyenne Truck And '85 Camaro

w c

My ’72 Cheyenne truck And ’85 Camaro

My Cheyenne truck was blue

And she carried me away

With her aluminum rims

And player for eight-track tapes

She had a lot of chrome

And a custom steering wheel

And carpet on the floor

And in general great appeal

I liked to go up town

Where others could see my gem

Driven as they stared

With many admirers then

My Cheyenne was very fast

With headers and plenty power

But her gas mileage was poor

At any miles-per-hour

I had to make a trade

And got myself a car

A Camaro charcoal gray

That I drove near and far

I came to love her too

With her smaller motor

And windows tinted dark

Enough to win me over

The cars I’ve driven since

In my mind have no place

And will never be as good

As mine those younger days

When I retire

I may wish again

To drive a Cheyenne truck

Or Camaro with some tint

If that day comes

The project will be good

Working with the boys

Underneath the hood

A classic from the past

Might work out fine

And if the overhaul is done

It’ll be cruising time

Oh this is fun..... men and their trucks/cars....... and oh boy did I love riding in my husband's truck (which he drove - for business - more than 500,000 miles and then sold it and it ran for another 3 years!). Being on the road in the morning while the sun is rising is the absolute best ...

Thanks, Lorna. My trucks./cars were a lot of fun. They were a statement of who I was back then, and I took great pride in them. My girlfriend used to say that my truck meant more to me than she did. To be honest, i don't know if I could invest the needed time to restore one today. They were a lot of work, and I dont know that i have the energy. I do have my memories though, and old pictures make me smile.

Yes we do build an affinity with our vehicles without doubt. I'm tempted to tell you of my beauties but no....
Fine tribute to your wilder motoring days.

Thanks, dusk. Yes, I really enjoy the memories of my vehicles back then. They meant so much to me. These days i focus on other creature comforts such as cruise control and electric windows.
