Their First Summer Sun

Jim Yates

Their First Summer Sun

These two little butterflies

In their first summer sun,

Are destined to be the guardians

Of a better world to come.

They’ll learn more

Than we could ever know,

And reach heights and goals

We can only dream of.

These two little butterflies

In their first summer sun,

Will purge this world of hatred and racism

And any other malaise it suffers from.

They’ll break the chains that bind

And set Justice and Liberty free.

They’ll walk tall upon this earth

And treasure forever their mother’s love.

So let’s raise a smile and say good luck

To these two little butterflies,

As they bask in their first summer sun

In the gardens of  the Élysées Palace
