half of me

cheyenneherren

through all of this,

my body does not feel like mine anymore.

you were half of me.

she took half of me.

you handed it to her like it was a gift

welcoming her embrace

kissing her lips

feeling her skin

giving her what belonged to me

without my word,

behind my back

and now i have to travel alone but

only half of me

A lost love can be a heartbreak, as if you can no longer exist, but the only cure is time. The pain will ever so slowly ease, life will seem more worth living, until eventually something or someone will enter and steal your heart once again. Keep on writing, it can only help, and you write beautifully. Your poem intrigued me because the title was similar to one I wrote, "Just half." The pain of a leaving by someone you love must be universal. We all feel it. Keep your eyes open to the world and soon your heart will follow.
Loved your poem. - Phil A.
