and so they meet...

and so they meet...

her tread is light

on the stones of the path

her frame so slight

across the reflecting ponds

she dashes

past the water fronds

tiny feet in satin toe-shoes

one foot in front of the other

under a moon of hazy blues

and how it does hover

as she runs her course

to the arms of her phantom lover

who in yearning waits beyond the veil

for his love to take his hand

and kiss his face so pale

willing give up her life

meeting in the great shadow

to grasp the ceremonial knife

      My dear Cat,

A beautiful poem oozing with love!
I was especially drawn to the words...

      “across the reflecting ponds
      she dashed
      past the water fronds”

The vision your poem evokes is almost unbearable (in the most loving sense)!

      Loved it!

      Hugs 🤗 🤗

There is darkness here. Your lovely lady is blind to all but her love which has drawn her into this night.
Will the power of her love turn his will?
        Enthralling power in this writing.

        • Candlewitch

          dear dusk,

you have scraped away at the surface and found the under current! I love reading your observations! 😉

              • Merissa

The description here is magnificent. I love the tinge of darkness that you apply to the love story. Shows that it's not all rainbows and butterflies. Great write.
