Stepping Stones

Nameless

You

And I

Are stepping stones.

One hop,

a leap.

Every person we meet.

A mere graze of their soles

Maybe a heel-

We feel.

Oh if I were but a single lace on their shoes!

Maybe then

You'd choose

To take me with you.
