Claudelle DeLuna

Women at 40 and Beyond

At first little girls playing with dolls and tea sets,

Like butterflies coming out of cocoons,

Giving life to beautiful beings,

Young women appear!

Ready to find the meaning of love,

First time boyfriends, heart memories,

Hugs, Kisses, soft touches,

Love letters, chocolates and flowers,

Learning Feelings and setting foundations,

A constellation aligning the stars,

In their hearts they hold a dream,

On their body a white dress,

Their Love in a black tuxedo,

Hear the ringing bells at the Cathedral!

A loving husband by their side,

Children holding their hand,

In time they begin to softly listen,

To the clock’s unhurried tick tock,

Now they know what they want,

Women at 40 and beyond!

        A fine write Claudelle.
I dunno when life begins for me. Was it at 40? I'm millions of years old, you see. I was at Battle of Hastings in 1066 (UK) with a few other poets on here - the eccentric ones! lol. I was probably in your (USA) American Civil War too!

Thank you for your nice comment Orchidee!
the eccentric ones?! would that be everybody that enjoys writing?!
I see you are as old as Methushael! ;)
          Bless Day!

Heehee thanks Claudelle. The eccentric ones are those who REALLY believed they were there in 1066. That's me for one, then! lol.
I shall have to stop this rubbish sometime, otherwise people might think I believe in reincarnation or something! Yep I could be old as Methusael. Well, 1066 will be 952 years ago this October, and he lived to 969 years. I heard somehow they discovered that at about age 200, they would look and feel about age 40, so....?

            Hi Claudelle,

A beautiful poem and tribute to women!

Women at 40 and beyond - just look at the wonderful, divine Susan Sarandon, Annie Lennox Emma Thompson, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren and awesome women throughout the whole world who continue to challenge the world and entertain all possibilities for us.

            Keep writing

BEAUTIFUL CLAUDELLE ! In my experience LADIES of 40+ have a certain "Je ne sait quoit !" which younger Ladies lack ! It reflects ~ experience ~ satisfaction ~ knowledge ~ understanding ~ empathy ~ resolution ~ wisdom ~ motherhood ~ perfect wife ~ peace & love. I know my ANGELA is only 30 but I know that one day she too will be 40+ and even more perfect & desirable than she is now ~ AMEN ! Yours as always BRIAN Please check my very apt poem today "FIVE FABULOUS FEMALES" ~ Thanks B ! Love the FLUTTERBIES ~ my fave insect ~ B.

a woman who knows what she wants, is my kind of woman... age bestows a certain confidence in the fair sex.. a most endearing feature....N
