Too Much

sylviasearcher

In a world of not enough

The girl learned slowly

She was too much!

Her first lesson came at fifteen

Her best friend gave her the look

Too much shared too much seen

Then her first love

Told her she lived life like a book

She wondered if life was ever enough?

Painfully aware that somehow she was all wrong

She stayed in bed for years

Stopped singing that freaky out of tune song

She stepped in line

She walked to the drum

Almost kept to time

Of the world's empty hum

Of course from time to time she was compelled

To break the poisonous loneliness spell

She tried softly, but her impatient lips just yelled!

Sometimes other trapped souls would peer

They thought they recognised the noise

But she was too much, her image was unclear

They walked on kindly as she tried to keep up

But then she saw that look on their face

And knew she had been too much!

Too needy

Too intense

Too weirdy

No pretense

All those others could adjust themself

And maybe therein the problem lay

For she could only be herself

In a world of not enough

The girl learned slowly

She was too much!
