The Sweatshirt

cutelilcardinal

Her love gave her a sweatshirt

She wore it all the time

She took the sweatshirt everywhere

Until the day she died

She wore it to the grocery store

She wore it to the park

She wore it to her therapy sessions

Where she could spill her heart

She wore it only once to the library

And as she studied for a test

Suddenly a gunshot rang out

She dove under the desk

She prayed to every god above

To keep her safe and sound

But her prayers were not answered

For soon her place was found

She cried and begged the gunman

To please keep her alive

But the gunman had no mercy

He pulled the trigger, she died.

When the love of her life received the news

He was suffering through pain and hurt

Imagine his devastation

When he saw his blood stained sweatshirt

Her love could not bear to see it

For months he only cried

For he knew that she had worn it

Until the day she died
