When did things change?

asrealastheycome

I own a heart that aches
Breaks from the minute I wake
Smiles I fake
Use a mask to grasp what I’ve missed
Did nothing wrong to ever deserve this
But quantity has replaced quality
Genuine connection becoming an anomaly
Rejecting what’s real
Denying what you feel
Basing decisions off temporary appeal
What’s the deal?
When did things change?
Struck me by surprise I’m not feeling the same
